About the project
In the height of the pandemic, a germ of an idea to write songs about local history took hold in one man’s imagination. Five years on, a truly community-based project spawned by that idea has delivered the above album of twelve original songs about the history of Balbriggan, Balrothery and Balscadden, the Song Book which includes seminal aspects of the history covered in the album, the Smart PDF on-online version of the Book, and this web-site for easy access to and dissemination of the entire project.
The team assembled over five years to deliver this project comprises twenty-two people. When asked to join the team, all of these people rowed in without a second thought to give generously of their time, skills, talents, support and commitment. The team enjoyed tremendous support, assistance and advice across our three communities – school teachers and principals, clubs and organisations, and townspeople - while building the project.
To get the full story of the project, and meet the ‘Acoustic Misfits & Friends’ team in person, just use the simple options above to download the album and its accompanying History and Songs Book PDF. The Acoustic Misfits and Friends hope that the album is enjoyed, and the accompanying Book of History and Songs is found to be an interesting read, and a valuable community resource for our townspeople, our schools and our clubs and organisations.
